WOMEN WERE BORN TO DRUM!
Women were the first drummers -- drums that began as winnowing tools to process seeds and grains, drums that were used as mortars and pestles to create flour.  Every child born grew in a womb of Drum, hearing the heartbeat of her mother pulsing in the waters of life.

Shaun Phoenix
has done ecstatic/trance drumming for decades, the drumbeat creating the trance state so essential to shamanic healing work.  About ten years ago she began African hand drumming instruction, and has since enjoyed deepening and expanding her practice and exploration of drumming as a tool for transformation, for meditation, for healing, and simply for having a Real Good Time.

Stormi Oshun
began with African hand drumming as a young adult, and pursued her passion for drumming with instruction in various rhythms of the world.  On a whim to enliven Spokane's Gay Pride parade, she offered to bring a marching band -- and then managed to create the vibrant, powerful, joyful "Giant Ass Drum Corps," a women's bucket-drumming brigade that regales Pride and other festivities around the Northwestern U.S.

Shaun and Stormi love to share their passion for drumming with other women.  It's time for women to take up space, to get loud, to be seen and heard and celebrated!  Together, they offer women a menu of drumming possibilities which include:

 - African hand drumming instruction
 - bucket drumming classes for special events,
        retreats and camps
 - active women's bucket drumming corps in
Spokane, WA and Bozeman, MT which are
       accepting new members
 - trance/ecstatic drumming facilitation for ritual
and ceremonial purposes (small and large group)
 - shamanic healing and shamanic mentoring
(click here to learn more about shamanism)

We also are members of YAMAMA, a 7-woman African hand drumming ensemble based in Bozeman, MT.
